Shantanu Naidu's Candid Memoir With Mr Ratan Tata : I Came Upon a Lighthouse

Updated: Dec 20, 2021

In his memoir " I came upon a lighthouse", Shantanu talks about his time with Mr. Tata as an employee, as a friend and as a colleague. But before we read about their time together, Shantanu speaks of his own life, about his family, his humble background and how he had a chance to meet Mr. Tata. Nowhere he tries to occupy this book with the privilege of being around one of the biggest business tycoons in the world. Rather, with his sincere narration, Shantanu gives a peek into Mr. Tata's personality, along with his own. He does not shy away from highlighting his accomplishments and also the low points anywhere in the book. That's the thing about memoirs, you know. The person who is writing reflects on their life with honesty, and it makes the reader do the same.

I loved everything about this book. The bond Shantanu shares with Mr. Tata is so pure. See, it's rare to find a boss cum mentor cum friend in a person. Naidu found one, that too in Mr. Ratan Tata. What followed is pure charm and blessing for him. Shantanu calls him "Millennial Dumbledore ". I found it super cute.

There’s a lot to talk about. But to wind it up, I would like to say that, this memoir of Naidu is worth a shot - for the learnings he has shared, for the comfort, for positivity, for hope, for believing in yourself. An inspiring and unputdownable book on friendship and mentorship that will make you feel good instantly.

Special mention to Motopaws , Shantanu's startup that made all this happen. :)

Beautiful illustrations by Sanjana Desai are so heartwarming.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book!
